Improv Performances (the rest of world)

  1. Big Stinkinf International Sketch and Improv Festival (BS4)

GET performed at the Big Stinkin'' International Sketch and Improv Festival in Austin Texas and won the DEl Close, "So you think you're funny?" award (in English no less!). There were lots of big laughs and a very warm reception, ending in standing ovations from the audience at both shows.

Side-splitting hilarity, some groans at Big Stinkin' festival

    By Michael Barnes-American Arts Writer

To keep you informed, we sent a team of writers to check out the showcases from 60 different comedy troupes. Below are some highlights of their first days on the giggle trail. We didn't bother to report on some of the really stinky sets, and we'll follow with more reviews after the weekend.

For the record, the best set I witnessed was presented by Galacta Excite,a three-person troupe from Tokyo that played Maggie Mae's on Wednesday. Their material was molded from traditional improv exercises-which resemble fast party games-twisted because two of the performers operate the English language with only a learner's permit. Imagine playing the alphabet game, for instance, starting each sentence with a sequential letter, but your command of English was limited. The troupe was extremely deft and, like most of the audience, I hooted, howled and wept with laughter.

  2. SAKfs International TheatreSports Tournament at the Orlando Fringe Festival

GET performed at the International TheatreSports Tournament at the Orlando Fringe Festival and came in 2nd place, after the team from Calgary. During the show, Naomi played a "Poet/Translator" scene and was awarded a perfect score!
